BARCELONA—Hostelco, the International Hotel and Catering Equipment Show, will open the upper floor of Hall 2 of Montjuïc Exhibition Centre to satisfy the demand for space requested by companies from the household, tableware, furniture and decoration sectors, while Avenida María Cristina will house the overflow from the hotel and catering equipment and machinery sectors. Space booking is 11% up on the same period versus 2006.

The October convention will feature booths from 2,300 direct and represented exhibitors. In addition to the aforementioned sectors, Hostelco will provide exhibits from areas including control, information technology, safety, textiles, uniforms, F&B, laundry and automated vending.

One new feature at Hostelco 2008 will be Hotel Univers, a showcase of the latest world products and trends from the hotel sector. Hotel Univers will be divided into seven themed areas: Art of Receiving, the recreation of the reception area of a grand luxury hotel; All with Nature, dedicated to sustainability products and projects; Sensations, featuring wellness proposals; Let’s Talk, a space for debating the future of the sector; Hotels in the Five Continents, which will highlight the features of hotels in different countries; Cuisine Zone, an area for F&B demonstrations; and Intimacy, featuring guestroom technology innovations.
