Eight Hotels Australia introduces Diamant Hotel Canberra, an 80-key property near Lake Burley Griffin in the heart of Canberra.
Diamant is part of a A$300 million mixed-use redevelopment of the NewActon precinct. This historic listed building has undergone an A$60 million high-design transformation, creating Canberra’s first luxury boutique hotel.
SJB Interiors designed the guestrooms with customized furniture, ceilings with Florence Broadhurst-inspired wallpaper, white Belgium granite work desks, Victorian headboards, contemporary log timber side tables, mosaic tiled bathrooms and walk-in showers with rain heads. Guestrooms boast Bang & Olufsen televisions, DVD players, fully stocked automated minibars, Internet access and MP3 connections.
The Diamant Lounge Bar, in collaboration with Perrier Jouet, is located in the hotel lobby. Guests will find themselves surrounded by an intimate library where they can enjoy the world’s finest Champagne in the warmth of a log fireplace, a classic collection of ambient music and free Wi-Fi.
Diamant’s foyer showcases design pieces like Corallo armchairs by Campana Brothers, rugs by Tai Ping and Italian-made Flos cocoon light fittings. Public spaces are adorned with an eclectic collection of sculptures, installations, contemporary and indigenous paintings.
The hotel is surrounded by a series of contemporary landscaped gardens. International architectural firm Fender Katsalidis recreated the 1920s structure by adding a modern industrial foyer to the original, blending contemporary building design with heritage Old World charm.
