Marriott's Caribbean Travel Interruption Policy

-- Hotels, 6/19/2008 9:25:00 AM

WESTON, FL (June, 2008) Hurricane season has begun and Marriott International will continue to ease summer travelers' concerns.  "Marriott's Caribbean Travel Interruption Policy" protects both groups and individual travelers in the event of a hurricane.

Since July 2006, Marriott's Caribbean Travel Interruption Policy has reassured guests visiting participating resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico given the following hurricane-related storm scenarios:

Choice of Full Refund for Interrupted Travel Reservations:
Guests holding a confirmed reservation with a nonrefundable deposit who are unable to travel to the Caribbean or Mexico where they hold a reservation, due to an airport or the hotel closure related to the particular hurricane event at the identified resort, will receive a full refund of their deposit and the ability to re-book for a future date. This policy does not apply to delayed or cancelled flights due to severe weather or other conditions for any reasons except as identified above.

Complimentary Return Stay for Interrupted Vacations:
Guests who are registered at a participating Caribbean or Mexico resort whose stay is interrupted by a hurricane which directly hits the property (as defined and validated by the U.S. National Weather Service) will receive a certificate for a complimentary three-night return stay (room and tax only) valid for two years from their original travel dates, including room and room tax. This return stay is based on availability and other applicable terms and conditions.

Relocation Assistance or a Replacement Meeting for Business Travelers:
If a scheduled meeting at a participating resort is interrupted, or the ability to travel to the resort for the meeting is affected, at Marriott's discretion, the meeting planner/group will be offered a replacement meeting at the same resort within one year (subject to availability) or the impacted hotel will make every attempt to relocate the group to another comparable Marriott or Renaissance resort, subject to availability and other applicable terms and conditions. The replacement meeting will be based on the same terms and conditions agreed upon in the original meeting contract.

Available at 18 resorts in ten beach destinations throughout the Caribbean and Mexico, Marriott's Caribbean Travel Interruption Policy is in effect for the duration of the Atlantic hurricane season, June 1 through November 30, 2008.

Participating resorts include:
*Aruba: Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino; Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino
