Proving the value of television beyond entertainment, LodgeNet Interactive provides media and connectivity solutions to more than 1.9 million hotel rooms representing 10,000 hotel properties worldwide. The 1,400 employees of the Sioux Falls, S.D.-based company focus on interactive television, broadband Internet, content and professional solutions as well as advertising media services. In addition to its core digital video business, LodgeNet provides broadband services in more than 225,000 hotel rooms. The company also owns and operates The Hotel Networks, a highly-efficient marketing solution that allows advertisers to reach business travelers through TV advertising, interactive video on demand and promotional opportunities.
Just as technology continues to evolve, LodgeNet Interactive continues to build new capabilities to design, deliver and manage interactive experiences for its clients.
“While the experience delivered will vary by property based on the requirements of the hotel and brand, we are focused on providing the right solution for each customer across a variety of scenarios to make sure we offer the best experience in a reliable, cost-effective manner,” says Scott E. Young, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of LodgeNet Interactive.
LodgeNet’s VOD, FTG and broadband solutions remain popular choices with its clients, while newer LodgeNet offerings provide enhanced features or make current solutions more affordable. The company leads in HDTV offerings with movie and sports content and makes it easy to migrate to HDTV with its Certified Installation program. LodgeNet also provides advanced broadband options that are supported by its North American field service network and a 100 percent employee-staffed Call Center, along with a variety of customized interactive systems and networks that are used by several of the world’s largest hotel chains. One LodgeNet served property—the Element Lexington in Lexington, Mass.—is the first LEED-certified hotel chain in the country and the most recent addition to the family of hotels owned by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. The LodgeNet experience delivered in this groundbreaking property includes basic VOD, digital in-room compendiums and flat panel televisions capable of swiveling 359 degrees in the middle of the room. And property-customized content and traditional on-site television programs are broadcast over four 42-inch plasmas in the lobby.
“We believe that as technology continues to evolve and as guests’ home solutions continue to become more sophisticated, hotels will require new and more robust systems for media and connectivity,” Young says.
