Hotels Mark 'Pinktober’ With Donations

In honor of Global Breast Cancer Awareness Month, several hotel groups are pledging to donate portions of October revenue to fight the disease.

As part of the Pinktober campaign, Hard Rock Hotels in North America will donate 25% of select guestrooms’ room rate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The qualifying guestrooms will be outfitted in special pink-hued bedding to aid in breast cancer awareness, and turndown amenities for these guestrooms will be limited-edition Hard Rock Pinktober pins. Guests also are being encouraged to make additional donations upon checkout.

Desires Hotels, meanwhile, is donating US$10 to the American Cancer Society for every October room night booked under its special Pink Rate at The Glenn in Atlanta, Hotel Mela in New York City and The Strand in Miami Beach. Keeping with the pink theme, the hotels are issuing pink room keys to guests, and staffers will wear pink ribbons. Desireshotels.com links to the American Cancer Society for direct donations.

The May Fair in London is donating 20% of October revenues from its Schiaparelli Suite, named for couturier Elsa Schiaparelli, whose signature hot pink became her legacy, as part of its Suite Stay to Show You Care promotion. Rates for the pink suite start at £2,500.
