LAS VEGAS—Brintons, the world’s leading producer of custom-woven Axminster carpet, is championing efforts to expand eco-friendly practices in the commercial design community, according to Jonathan Young, the company’s U.S. CEO.

“In addition to accelerated measures internally, we are actively engaged in helping our customers reach LEED certification,” Young says. “While many carpets made today meet CRI’s Green Label Plus standards, Brintons carpet offers an additional advantage for LEED certification—our woven carpets are made primarily of natural materials, such as wool, that qualify as a rapidly renewable material. Also, the well-recognized longevity of woven Axminster carpet should not be discounted in weighing the impact of an extended product life cycle in relation to environmental issues.”
This spring, Brintons installed carpet at The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino, Las Vegas, which was awarded a silver certificate and became the world’s largest LEED-certified building. According to the U.S. Green Building Council, the US$1.9 billion, 50-story Palazzo is actually more than four times bigger than the second largest LEED-certified building.
Founded in 1783, family-owned Brintons is headquartered in the UK and operates plant facilities in the UK, India and Portugal. Its high-end woven Axminster carpets have become a standard for business and residential properties throughout the world. Brintons’ operation in the Americas is based in Atlanta.
