LodgeNet Establishes Hospitality-Specific Division

SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA— LodgeNet Interactive Corp. has realigned into three separate business units: Hospitality, Healthcare and The Hotel Networks. The Hotel Networks—the media marketing division—will continue to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.
As part of the new structure, Chief Marketing Officer Scott Young has been named president of the hospitality division, which deals with 1.9 million hotel rooms at 9,900 hotels worldwide. Young is charged with driving growth opportunities for LodgeNet via broadband applications and so-called “professional solutions,” as well as managing the company’s core interactive media business.
LodgeNet also promotes Steve Pofahl to general manager of hospitality operations, from his position as senior vice president of technical operations.
The changes are meant to streamline internal efficiencies, Young says. The hope is that hoteliers see enhanced service as a result. “We’re very aware that, in the integration of OnCommand, there have been some opportunities in terms of our customer service. We’re working to improve that,” Young says.
Additionally, The Hotel Networks is launching a new product called FreeViews, a video-on-demand ad-supported content offering expected to reach 20 million guests each month. FreeViews lets advertisers reach targeted guests with customized long-form video content.
