Fairfax County Hotels Set Rate To Outdoor Temperature

-- Hotels, 12/3/2008 8:54:00 AM

Fairfax County, VA— The colder, the better.  That is what guests staying in participating Fairfax County hotels will be saying during weekends from November 29 to December 27 when their Saturday night rate will be “frozen” to match the Fahrenheit outdoor temperature recorded at Dulles International Airport at 12 noon on the Saturday of their stay.

A minimum two night stay is required for this promotional offer, and regular hotel rates will apply to any nights beyond the Saturday night stay. Hotel reservations must also be booked a minimum of 72 hours in advance. The official Saturday Dulles temperature will be reported through the WeatherBug Web Site at www.weatherbug.com.

At the moment, participating hotels include:

Homewood Suites Herndon
Westin Tysons Corner
Staybridge Suites Chantilly
Hyatt Fair Lakes
Hyatt Dulles
Courtyard Marriott Tysons Corner
Crowne Plaza Tysons Corner
Holiday Inn Express Reston/Herndon
Hampton Inn Dulles South
Holiday Inn Chantilly
Hyatt Regency Reston
Hyatt Place Chantilly
Sheraton Reston Hotel

“Fairfax County is a smart choice for travelers who want to experience every aspect of a big city weekend getaway without having to shell out the extra cash,” says Barry Biggar, President and CEO of Visit Fairfax. “We offer world-class shopping and attractions, and visitors can finish the day off with an unforgettable dining experience at one of Fairfax County’s many renowned restaurants.”

Some highlights of the many holiday-themed events, parades and light displays that will be going on in November and December include: George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens candlelight tours, the Reston Pavilion ice skating rink, and the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

“Historically, we have seen varying weather temperatures from year-to-year and even day-to-day between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day in the D.C. area,” said Joe Bartosik, Senior Meteorologist at WeatherBug. “We are excited to be a part of this program with Visit Fairfax and look forward to seeing how low we will go for temperatures in the Fairfax County area this year.”
