Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has opened a luxurious property in one of China’s most modern and affluent cities, Chengdu, Sichuan. Located in the heart of Jinjiang District, Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu, features a 35-story hotel complex, 26 service apartments and an adjacent 30-story office complex.
The design from Hirsch Bedner Associates is inspired by the heritage and culture of Chengdu. Footprints of bamboo and organic patterns exist throughout the hotel. As guests enter, a central waterfall with gold-plated leaves creates a dramatic effect, and floral rugs in gold and blue enhance the Asian touch with elegance and timelessness. Rich, dramatic tones are throughout the public spaces. Warm golden hues, marble and stone juxtapose contemporary furnishings. The spacious lobby lounge offers a view of the Heijiang Pavilion. The bar area features a crystal glass-drop chandelier.
Shangri La’s signature spa brand, Chi, offers a sanctuary of tranquility inspired by the architectural principles of a Tibetan Temple, using Himalayan artifacts and design elements. Stone, timber, metal and textured fabrics are principal materials used in the spa and its 11 private treatment suites.
Guestrooms and suites feature modern furniture, custom carpets and warm, contemporary colors, Asian art, artifacts and organic patterns. HBA uses locally produced art and artifacts, wood veneers and stones from nearby resources to provide guests with a sense of place and warm residential feeling.
