Condolences
August 8, 2008
On behalf of the HOTELS magazine staff, I would like to extend condolences to the family and friends of Stevan Porter.I know he was loved by so many at IHG and in my meetings with Steve I found him to be a gentle and respectful man. The hotel industy has lost a leader way too soon.

Loren G. Brown, Jr., CGSP commented:
I only met Mr. Porter and his lovely wife recently at the last Pavarotti concert in Los Angeles. He was a very likable and easy going man for having such huge responsibility. We talked shop over dinner at the Hollywood Bowl and developed an instant friendship. In the course of my work I needed a favor only Steve could handle. He came through like a true champion and made me look great in front of my numerous clients with the Federal Government. We spoke on the telephone several times afterward and each time I came away with the feeling that my small amount of business was indeed well placed with Steve Porter and his great staff at IHG. He was a brilliant professional and a very down to earth gentleman and he will be missed in the industry. My condolances to Mrs. Porter, the family and all the many friends and associates of Mr. Steve Porter.
