From Detox To Elephant Polo
October 13, 2008
I am going to try to start blogging more often. On this Monday I am VERY heartened to see the stock markets rally—we really need some positive momentum.
I know business is struggling and will continue to do so through 2009, according to most predictions. That being said, allow me to offer you an opportunity to enjoy and escape by telling you about two stories I found in my in-box this morning.
The first comes from Six Senses Spa at Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay. They have launched a “Corporate Detox Programme,” allowing key decision-makers the opportunity to regenerate themselves by adopting a more wellness orientated approach to meetings and hectic business lifestyles. Talk about good timing. I can think of more than a few Wall Street, banking and mortgage professionals who need this shoved down their throats.

The program is designed for small executive groups between 10 and 15 people. It combines the modern and luxurious business meeting and accommodation services at the hotel with a uniquely designed detox program incorporating holistic activities, nutritional and lifestyle consultations, balanced cuisine, spa treatments, plus effective take-home advice. I don’t think this is what the AIG executives were engaged in when they spent nearly half a million dollars at the St. Regis Monarch Beach resort last week. Now word comes from Bloomberg that AIG just canceled a retreat at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay. Too bad for the hotel; good for the rest of us.
By the way, did you know Oprah Winfrey is reportedly worth more than General Motors this morning?
Here is another good story. It is really more about showing this picture:
The Anantara Golden Triangle Resort & Spa in Thailand offers guests to away from it all through the genteel sport of polo—elephant polo, that is.

Through the resort’s own elephant camp located within the ground of the resort, the property tempts everyone to experience one of the world’s most exclusive sports and to create good perceptions and relationships toward this giant creature. Who cleans up is what I want to know?

Great one Jeff, hopefully the elephants in the resort did not invest with the guys on top of them. Its a tough time. But most of the crowd have not felt the pinch as the majority of the crowd live life on a daily basis. Sorry for the guys who sold their ferraris...not. Thanks.
