Culinary Drama At The Westin Chicago North Shore
The Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel in Wheeling, Illinois is the scene for a bit of local drama these days, as prominent Chicago-area chefs Rick Tramonto and Gale Gand part company with Cenitare, the restaurant group created by the hotel's developers.
Tramonto and Gand had put their names on the hotel's four F&B offerings: Tramonto’s Steak and Seafood, Osteria di Tramonto, RT Lounge and Gale’s Coffee Bar. But now the chefs are getting out, and the restaurant group, which once had plans to take the concepts nationwide, will soon cease to exist.
Meanwhile, the Westin's restaurants will remain open and keep their current names and concepts (despite their namesake chefs no longer being involved), but now will be operated by another prominent Chicago restaurant group, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises.
Tramonto, meanwhile, has said he is interested in opening another Tramonto’s Steak and Seafood in downtown Chicago.
