If At First You Don't Succeed...
October 20, 2008

The Leading Hotels of the World finally has announced the new details of its troubled 80th anniversary sale: The sale will take place on Thursday, October 23, beginning at 2 p.m. GMT, and lasting for 80 minutes.

Customers will be able to visit www.lhw.com/1928 as early as 24 hours ahead of the start time in order to complete a travel request form (naming their desired hotels and dates for the US$19.28 nightly rate). The same site will be used to access the sale once it begins.

All the details can be found on the sale status site

The bottom line is that Leading's solution is basically the same as the original promotion, the idea being that Leading is simply better prepared this time around from a technical standpoint.

What's that old saying? 'If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.'

For their sake, hopefully Leading gets it right this time. Another apology e-mail from CEO Ted Teng won't do much to restore customer confidence if Leading botches this promo twice...

I find this whole promotion to be unbelievable. I'm not sure that I've ever seen something handled so unprofessionally by such a large company.
