Latin America On The Rise
May 27, 2008
The List of the Day for Tuesday, May 27 comes with an added bonus: an accompanying Factoid of the Day. Are you ready? Here we go... With June widely recognized as the most popular month to get married, today's list hones in on honeymoons:
Ask.com's Top 10 Most Searched Honeymoon Destinations
1. Mexico 6. Spain
2. Italy 7. Costa Rica
3. Hawaii 8. Greece
4. Puerto Rico 9. Paris
5. France 10. Bahamas
Latin America dominates this list, with Mexico, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica all placing in the top 10 (I did my part by honeymooning in Costa Rica earlier this year--see photo at right).
And if that were not proof enough of Latin America's rising status with vacationers, Expedia's Travel Trendwatch offers this juicy tidbit about the upcoming summer travel season:
Latin America Increasingly Popular
For American travelers, there is growing interest in Latin American destinations such as Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. That said, the fastest growing Latin American destinations are more exotic, with more travel to Paraguay, Peru and Argentina. Argentina alone, according to the country's tourism office, saw the number of U.S. visitors grow 35% between 2005 and 2007.
