Stat of the Day
May 23, 2008
Today is the Friday leading into Memorial Day weekend in the U.S., so the news is relatively light, as many people are taking the day off to get a head start on their travels. Or so I figured... but maybe I was wrong. Which leads me to your Stat of the Day for Friday, May 23:
According to Deloitte & Touche's Memorial Day Travel Survey of more than 1,000 adults in the U.S., only 30% plan to travel this weekend. Meanwhile, 23% say they have altered their Memorial Day weekend travel plans due to the rise in gas prices, with 57% staying closer to home and 12% canceling their travel altogether.
Sounds like these folks remain unaware of the plethora of gas rebate packages out there...
And speaking of those, take a look at this ridiculous headline promoting the latest one--the PR flack who wrote it should be fired!
