Hotel Bar Names: Are They Absurd?
As part of its annual Best Bars in America feature, Esquire magazine wonders why hotel bars in particular have a penchant for having ridiculous names. Sheraton Atlanta Hotel's bar, Fandangles, gets called out in the article for being especially egregious.
Writes author Joe Oestreich: "Fandangles? You’re a huge hotel conglomerate with thousands of smart people in your employ, and the best you’ve got is a combination of Fandango and Bojangles, both of which would be inexcusable bar names anyway?"
Honestly, embarrassing hotel bar names isn't a trend I had noticed myself—on the whole, in fact, I feel like hotel bars more often than not have more clever and fun names than your average establishment—but Oestreich definitely has a point about Fandangles.
Anbody care to nominate any particularly good or bad hotel bar names? If I get enough suggestions, maybe we can have some kind of bracket-style contest to determine the best and worst ...

To answer your question, yes, just as is the case with many hotel restaurants, some offenders: - flying spoons, what is a flying spoon, a spoon with wings? where does the spoon take you? to new culinary heights? - tiffany rose, yikes! (yes there are roses on every table) - players, a sports bar, ouch. - pitchers, i wonder if they serve pitchers? - rattlesnake bar, is it so wild and crazy its like getting bit by a rattlesnake? - BIN anything, "bin" there, its kind of like using an address, an easy way out of putting thought into a name.
