Let The Debate Begin
September 1, 2008
My technology feature in the September issue of HOTELS is a predictive examination of the future of the guestroom telephone. Frankly, none of us knows for sure what the future holds—how many people could have thought, just 10 years ago, that the mobile phone would achieve near-ubiquitousness so quickly, for instance—but just because we don't know what will happen shouldn't dissuade us from discussing what might happen to the guestroom phone.
More to the point, it shouldn't dissuade us from debating what ought to become of the phone, both from a hospitality standpoint as well as from a revenue-generation point of view.
So, now that you've read my article and seen what various industry observers think about the phone's future, what's your take?
