Thompson Gets Hacked
What do Thompson Hotels and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin have in common?
Until last month, probably nothing at all. But they're both recent victims of e-mail hackers.
The New York-centric blog Cityfile today has dug up a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court by the tony boutique hotelier against an unidentified defendant. Allegedly, the accused John Doe assumed the online identity of Thompson's PR head Marissa Cortes and stole some confidential e-mails.
The content of the swiped correspondence is unknown, but it's apparently sensitive enough that the hacker has been taunting Thompson via e-mail with threats of releasing the information publicly.
The lawsuit seeks damages from a jury trial. Read the formal complaint below.
