The most recent death toll has crossed 60 souls, including at least 29 hotel employees.

In his blog today, Bill Marriott reaffirms his company's commitment to international travel as a means for global diplomacy. "While many of us will grieve over this incident for a long time, we must also realize that it is extremely important to move on," he writes. "Our hotels serve as homes to travelers from many different cultures where all of our guests can do business and peacefully co-exist. We are truly a crossroads for communication. By traveling the world, we all learn that we have more in common than we have differences."

Hoteliers, never forget that you all are a key cog in the struggle for world peace. Every time you welcome a stranger from a strange land into your hotel and treat them with kindness and dignity, you're taking another small but critically important step toward eliminating hate and terror.

Thanks for all you do.
