Technology Blogs Get Pegged
July 31, 2007
The folks over at global distribution systems giant Pegasus Solutions are hopping on the blog bandwagon, launching a blog dedicated to emerging trends and technology related to hospitality called Pegged. The blog, which is authored anonymously, is brand new as of last week, but it will likely become required regular reading for hotel techies.
That said, Travolution—which has a fine blog in its own right for Web-related travel topics— makes a good point in calling on Pegged to be less corporate than its introductory post indicates it will be, if it is to be a real relevant blog. As Travolution succinctly and accurately puts it: “The best travel company blogs have tended to be those that try not to flatter the company or its customers.” If people want to read a press release, they will read a press release, not a blog.
On a side note, Pertlink Managing Director Terence Ronson has a blog dedicated to hotel technology over at WhoIsWhoInHospitality (which, if you have not yet seen WIWIH, is quickly becoming the MySpace of the hospitality world.) Ronson has been a bit spotty in updating his blog, but it is worth a bookmark, if not a daily visit.
Also, HotelChatter has a well-stocked tag page dedicated to hotel technology. While it pretty much sticks to the consumer side of things, like most everything else on the site, it is an enjoyable read.
As HOTELS’ resident technology editor, I’m always on the lookout for useful hotel tech blogs and sites. Anybody have some recommendations to add to my blogroll?
