A Focus On Suites
Now more than ever, all around the world, luxury hotels seem to be putting an emphasis on over-the-top suites.
Whether it’s The Dorchester’s ‘rooftop suites’ (see images below), the Dolder Grand’s ‘top suites’ (more images below), or any given presidential suite (see Pan Pacific Singapore presidential suite images below), every hotel wants to talk about its best rooms these days.
I’m tuned-in enough to spot the trend of hoteliers spending on adding or redesigning such spaces, but perhaps not clued-in enough to understand it, so I asked someone who knows a thing or two about suites, Sir Rocco Forte, for an explanation.
Here’s what he had to say about why suites are so important these days:
"Because we can sell [them]. Because customers want them. There seem to be more and more people willing to pay the high prices charged for suites these days. Many of the markets we’re selling to, like the Russian or Middle Eastern markets, those customers view suites as the only thing they’ll buy in a hotel. So that’s the most important factor. Also, at the end of the day, you wouldn’t expect to go to a luxury hotel [that] didn’t have suites."
You can’t argue with that logic.
