Hoteliers of World awards: Dedication personified

Jerry Inzerillo calls it the “eye of tiger.” Pierre Jochem refers to the fire “in your belly.” In both cases, they say either you have it, or you don’t, because that is exactly what a very successful and long-standing hotel career requires.

Yes, it is hard to teach that level of intensity, and likely why the readers of HOTELS chose Inzerillo, CEO of Diriyah Gate Development Authority in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as HOTELS 2021 Corporate Hotelier of the World, and Jochem, general manager and senior vice president of operations for La Mamounia in Marrakech, Morocco, as the Independent Hotelier of the World.

HOTELS extends its congratulations to the two winners, who are profiled in the just-released Juy/August of HOTELS. Here is a link to the story.

A burning passion to win and classic hotelkeeping style define both of HOTELS 2021 Hotelier of the World award winners. They are completely dedicated and use some old-school style to feed what is seemingly an unquenchable desire to serve.

An award program now in its 41st year, these latest winners, like so many that came before them, have so much in common. They have trotted the globe working for leading luxury brands ranging from Raffles to Four Seasons, as well as Oberoi and Kerzner. Just like every legendary hotelier, they seem to obsess over the tiniest details and operate with a healthy dose of humility. They are thrilled to see their teams grow, and while they have both already accomplished so much, they show no signs of wanting to stop. They were bitten by the hotel bug as early as age 13 and today it still needs scratching.

If you don’t click through to the link in this report, next week, in HOTELS News & Views, we will also present the profiles of Inzerillo and Jochem, highlighting their careers, pivotal moments, as well as their advice and points of view about the business. HOTELS is so proud to recognize both leaders as the 2021 Hotelier of the World award winners.
