Sage Hospitality Group launches Catbird in Denver

Sage Hospitality Group, the Denver, Colorado-based hospitality management company, aims to disrupt the extended-stay hotel business with Catbird, its latest independent, lifestyle hotel in Denver’s River North Art District. Set to open soon, the 165-room hotel will combine the comforts of home and hotel with the use of adaptable spaces that foster a deeper sense of belonging for its guests and community.

The guest rooms will feature lofted beds, custom-built multi-functional furniture and high-touch finishes. Entertainment amenities include 4K ultra HD projectors that project onto custom screens in front of large exterior windows. Rooms include full kitchens with housewares and cooking essentials like individually-packaged, pre-measured spices from Occo. Each guest floor houses complimentary laundry services along with a water filling station that dispenses both still and sparkling water.

“At every level of our organization, the Sage team has worked tirelessly to bring this concept to life, and I believe Catbird is truly a differentiator for Sage and for the industry. There is no other hotel that offers the guest experience Catbird offers, and we look forward to bringing the concept to other key markets in the future,” said Walter Isenberg, president and CEO of Sage Hospitality Group.

Besides a fitness center, the hotel’s ‘Playroom’ boasts of a gear locker stocked with bikes, skateboards, scooters, cameras and other items that guests van borrow and use. Amenities also include a dog run for pets, package delivery lockers and a guest storage area where frequent guests can leave often-used items.

Catbird encompasses a 2,500 square foot, four-bedroom historic home, originally built in 1890 which has been preserved as part of the hotel. The home has been updated with modern amenities and décor and is best suited for groups wishing to use it as a home for social event space, retreat or special celebrations.

Catbird’s rooftop features The Red Barber, a bar retreat with 360 degree views of the junction of the city’s skyline and mountain vistas.

Each of Sage Hospitality Group’s four companies — Sage Studio, Sage Hotel Management, Sage Restaurant Concepts and Sage Investments — has helped develop the property and will continue to do so as it moves into day-to-day operations. The opening of Catbird marked the third new construction hotel opening for Sage so far this year.

Sage co-owns Catbird along with Walnut Development Partners and EXDO Development Group, both headquartered in Denver.

“Our team thrives when operating hotels that focus on creating a truly unique guest experience, and Catbird is exactly that,” said president and chief operating officer of Sage Hotel Management, Daniel del Olmo.
