The second Design Hotels pop-up project has opened, temporarily, on the Greek island of Mykonos.
The 34-room San Giorgio Mykonos is owned by the proprietors of the nearby Paradise Club, who joined forces with Design Hotels to design a new experience that the hotel says is like “visiting the summer home of your coolest friend, who whips together a feast for the eyes and palate with as much ease and grace as he throws the island’s most talked-about fête.”
Interior designer and stylist Annabell Kutucu and design entrepreneur Michael Schickinger have given the white-washed buildings a bohemian flair. Guestrooms range from the garden-level Basico to the Famosa suite, which covers nearly 130 sq m (1,292 sq ft) of indoor and outdoor space.
The 30-seat Cantina Restaurant and Bar offers home-style fare at long, rough-hewn tables.
San Giorgio also offers activities ranging from windsurfing to horseback riding at the nearby Paradise Beach. Long-jumper Kofi Prah offers a complimentary sports program. Guests also have complimentary access to the Paradise Club’s VIP area; the hotel will serve as the setting for events such as white parties.
San Giorgio also offers a small chapel with traditional rough-stone walls.
