People on the move: InterContinental | Viceroy | Maybourne

A senior vice president joined CHMWarnick to establish a Chicago office, while Viceroy Hotels and Resorts, drawing from its own talent pool, named a chief financial officer. Radisson Hotel Group promoted from within to appoint a vice president, global loyalty, and EHL Group announced a chief operating officer, also serving as deputy chief executive officer. Here are more of this week’s industry moves and promotions.

InterContinental San Diego named Chuck Abbott general manager. Abbott joined the property from Prince Waikiki Hotel, Honolulu, where he served as general manager during its renovation and rebranding.

Kevin Barnes is hotel manager at The Redbury New York in New York City. Barnes had been general manager of The Evelyn Hotel, also in New York City.

Radisson Hotel Group appointed Efrem Berman vice president, global loyalty. He previously served as head of global loyalty and engagement at Radisson.

Viceroy Hotels and Resorts promoted Hilda Delgado to chief financial officer from her previous role as senior vice president of hotel finance.

Dorothy Dowling, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Best Western Hotels & Resorts, is Allied Leadership Council president for the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA). Dowling remains chair on the Strategic Advisory Board for WINiT by GBTA, a network focused on advancing women in the industry. 

Diane Tanner Fox is senior vice president at CHMWarnick, responsible for bolstering the company’s Midwestern presence by establishing a Chicago office. Fox most recently was executive vice president of national hotel asset management firm HotelAve, where she oversaw a portfolio of 14 hotels totaling approximately US$1 billion in asset value.

Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Charleston Historic District in Charleston, South Carolina, appointed Albert Kunco executive chef. Kunco most recently was executive chef at Atlanta Marriott Peachtree Corners in Peachtree Corners, Georgia.

Daniela Lindner is vice president group sales for Deutsche Hospitality. She had been director commercial for IntercityHotel, a role now held by Julian Girndt. Girndt departed Hilton, where he was director of sales groups.

InterContinental Hayman Island Resort, opening this summer on Hayman Island, Australia, named nine team members: Adam Leonard is director of sales, Gabriella Highman is business development manager for MICE conversion, Erin Williams is business development manager, Mausumi Barooah is business development manager for wholesale and leisure, Rebecca Murthen is events executive for weddings and social, Amanda Burleigh is spa manager, Joshua Dows is director of restaurants and bars, Erwin Joven is director of kitchens, and Anthony Kramer is executive sous chef.

Hard Rock International appointed Rachel Mecca director of global travel industry sales in the global sales and marketing department. Mecca had been regional director of sales and marketing for Aimbridge Hospitality, where she led sales and marketing initiatives for the company’s Caribbean portfolio.

EHL Group appointed Maxime Medina chief operating officer and deputy chief executive officer. Medina, a member of EHL’s executive committee since 2012, has headed EHL Group’s campus development and asset management projects since 2017.

Matthew Moore is general manager of Winnetu Oceanside Resort in Edgartown, Massachusetts. He departed the AC Hotel Boston Downtown in Boston, where he served as general manager.

Sietse Nabben is general manager of Hotel Hendricks in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. He previously was managing director for Royalton Park Avenue (formerly Gansevoort), also in New York City.

Scott Perry is opening general manager for the dual-branded Hilton property in Denver, a Home2 Suites by Hilton and Tru by Hilton, opening late this year. Perry formerly was an area general manager for Sage Hospitality and currently is an affiliate professor in the department of hospitality events and tourism at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Marriott International promoted Heather Steenge-Hart to area general manager, luxury mountain resorts – Western region. She had been general manager at The St. Regis Aspen Resort in Aspen, Colorado.

Derek Tawil is general manager for Residence Inn Boston Watertown in Watertown, Massachusetts. Tawil has more than 25 years of hospitality industry experience, predominantly with Marriott- and Hilton-branded properties.

Maybourne Hotel Group – which manages Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley, all in London – appointed Alper Toydemier director of East Coast sales. He has held positions including assistant director of sales and regional head of sales for properties including The Peninsula New York and The Pierre New York, both in New York City.

Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead in Atlanta welcomed Executive Chef Christophe Truchet. Truchet most recently was executive sous chef at Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills in Beverly Hills, California.

Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, named Claudia Wattenberg general manager. She was general manager of the Hyatt Regency Cambridge in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
