Briefs: Radisson grows in Milan | TUI sharpens hotel focus

Radisson to Milan. Radisson Hospitality AB, part of Radisson Hotel Group, has signed a new Radisson Collection property in Milan, Italy. Working in conjunction with Allianz, the group will redevelop the former Allianz Italia headquarters in Milan into the 160-room Radisson Collection Hotel, Santa Sofia Milan. Set to open in 2022, the hotel will be managed by Allianz Real Estate on behalf of Allianz group company.

11th Ginger signed. Ginger, Indian Hotel Company Ltd.’s “lean luxury” brand, has signed an 11th hotel in the Indian state of Gujarat. The hotel in the pilgrimage city of Dwarka will have 99 rooms, is owned by Bluerock Hospitality Ventures Pvt. Ltd. and is slated to open at the end of May 2019. It will expand IHCL’s footprint in the state of Gujarat to 795 keys.

Easy going to Wroclaw. Vienna House, Austria, plan to open a new Easy brand hotel in Wroclaw, Poland, marking the group’s seventh hotel in the country. The 240-room hotel in the center of Wroclaw will open during the first quarter of 2022. The hotel will be operated by Vienna House under a lease agreement from ST Wroclaw Sienkiewicza Sp. z o.o., who offer student apartment solutions with BaseCamp in Poland, Denmark and Germany.

TUI loves hotel business. TUI AG said on Monday it will open 20 new hotels over the coming weeks as part of its expansion into the hotel business. The new hotels will span 11 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. TUI’s hotel, resort, cruises and destination experiences now account for 70% of the group’s earnings. TUI currently has around 380 hotels and 17 cruise ships.

Sun coming to GHA. Global Hotel Alliance has announced that Sun Resorts will become the latest addition to its growing network of over 30 independent brands and 550 hotels in 75 countries. Headquartered in Mauritius, Sun Resorts owns and manages five resorts in Mauritius and the Maldives. The integration will be completed by Q3 2019 with two Sun Resorts properties, the Long Beach in Mauritius and Kanuhura in the Maldives, becoming a part of Ultratravel Collection, an exclusive portfolio of the alliance’s most luxurious properties.

New hotel by CIA. Bellefield Development Partners, an affiliate of T-Rex Capital Group, has announced that the planning stages have commenced for the second hotel and conference center to open on the grounds of Bellefield at Historic Hyde Park, New York, directly across from The Culinary Institute of America. Bellefield Development Partners has partnered with the Shaner Hotel Group and Bob McCarthy (former COO, Marriot International) on the first hotel, and continues that partnership for the second boutique lifestyle hotel on the property. The second hotel is envisioned as a high-end, 150-room property that will deliver a boutique-quality experience.
