Accor: Day rate in Bangkok, fund for employees

French hotel company Accor is offering a day-use room package across 10 hotels in Bangkok. Locals can book a room for up to eight hours a day at 10 Accor properties including Ibis Styles, Novotel, MGallery, Pullman and Grand Mercure brands. As well, Accor announced the launch of the “ALL Heartist Fund,” a COVID-19 special purpose vehicle created to fund COVID-19-related hospital expenses for employees without social security or medical insurance, as well as furloughed employees in financial distress.

USTA seeks additional funds, small biz protection

The U.S. Travel Association added to its list of policy requests to the U.S. Congress to protect employees and businesses in the travel industry – for instance, local and regional destination marketing organizations that the association says are “absolutely crucial” to drive tourism. Among other items: Appropriate an additional US$600 billion for the Payroll Protection Program and extend coverage through December, and increase Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) funding to US$50 billion, raise the loan cap from $500,000 to $10 million, and allow a second EIDL if a business is still unable to meet its ordinary expenses.

Testing in Beijing for hotel guests

Starting Sunday, visitors to Beijing will be required to provide negative coronavirus test results when they check in to hotels in the capital. Hotels will require guests to provide a national health clearance and a Beijing’s health condition app, with both showing “normal.”
