Briefs: Marriott’s first Delta | Caesars merger

Marriott opening first all-inclusive Delta: Marriott International has signed an agreement to manage the first all-inclusive Delta Hotels by Marriott resort. Under the agreement, the 117-room Grand Matlali Hills Resort & Spa resort, in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico, will be renovated in order to meet the new all-inclusive brand extension concept; it is anticipated to be rebranded and managed by Marriott International in 2021. The resort is expected to be expanded to 300 rooms by 2023.

Eldorado Resorts, Caesars complete merger: Reno-based Eldorado Resorts has completed its acquisition of Caesars Entertainment Corp., a transaction that creates the largest casino and entertainment company in the U.S. The combined company owns and operates more than 55 casino properties worldwide, including a portfolio of eight casino hotel properties on the Las Vegas Strip. Additionally, Caesars owns or operates casinos in 16 states across the U.S.

Nobu Marrakech: New York-based Nobu Hospitality, founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, is expanding into Marrakech, Morocco, with the Nobu Hotel and Restaurant Marrakech. The 71-room hotel is a collaboration between Hivernage Collection, MC Hotels (the owners of the Nobu Hotel Marbella, Marbella Club Hotel and joint owners of the Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay) and Nobu Hospitality. The hotel, formerly The Pearl Marrakech, will be renovated in the third quarter of 2021.

IHG in Budapest after 23 years: InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a franchised agreement with Borealis Hotel Group for Holiday Inn Express Budapest City Centre. The 189-room hotel will be the first Holiday Inn Express in Budapest and the first IHG hotel to enter the Hungarian market in over 20 years. The project will be developed by the company Big4 and is expected to open late 2022.

Hotel Equities managing three Marriotts: Atlanta-based hotel owner, operator and developer Hotel Equities will manage three Marriott hotels located in Alabama. These include a Courtyard by Marriott in the city of Mobile and a Courtyard by Marriott and Fairfield Inn by Marriott located in Tuscaloosa. The trio of hotels is owned by Neil Patel who engaged Hotel Equities to take over the day-to-day operations and management of the properties.

IntercityHotel comes to Paderborn: Frankfurt-based Deutsche Hospitality will open an IntercityHotel in Paderborn, Germany. The 190-room hotel is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2022. When complete, the hotel, with interiors from Italian architect Matteo Thun, will have access to its FreeCityTicket scheme, which permits use of the whole of the city’s public transport system free of charge.

Loews ‘welcomes you like family’: New York-based Loews Hotels launched a brand campaign, “Welcoming You Like Family,” utilizing video, photography, digital experience platforms and on-property touchpoints. The campaign’s brand message stems from a positioning exercise Loews Hotels conducted through internal stakeholder interviews, external focus groups and a multi-disciplinary internal workshop.
