Briefs: CitizenM eyes Germany | First Wink set to open

CitizenM enters Germany: Dutch hotel and lifestyle brand CitizenM has entered into a collaboration with German project developer GBI as the hotel brand enters the German market for the first time. The focus for CitizenM’s expansion in Germany will be on four cities: Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Berlin, and the company plans to open several hotels in each city.

Vietnam’s Wink launches, targeting domestic: Ho Chi Minh City-based Wink Hotels is preparing to open its debut hotel later this year. Conceived by developer Indochina Kajima, and operated by Indochina Vanguard, the company plans to target the domestic market. The first Wink branded hotel will be the 237-room Wink Hotel Saigon Centre, opening in Q4 2020. Properties to follow include the 243-room Wink Hotel Danang Centre and a third in riverside Danang as part of a mixed-use complex.

Who’s acquiring Marriott Chicago Northwest: The Marriott Chicago Northwest hotel has been sold to Hoffman Estates Hotel Group for an undisclosed sum. The 295-room hotel opened in 2002. Public areas of the hotel consist of nearly 13,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Hilton works on crate-free commitment: Hilton, with the assistance of global animal welfare organization World Animal Protection, recently released an updated animal welfare statement acknowledging that it was unable to achieve its goal of sourcing gestation crate-free pork by 2018, while affirming its commitment to continue making progress and setting a new deadline of 2022. The hotel conglomerate also recently set a cage-free egg commitment and signed up to the Cool Food Pledge to promote plant-based menu items in its hotels.

Six Senses heads to Italy: Six Senses urban collection is heading to Rome with plans to open in late 2021. The palazzo building, owned by the Orion European Real Estate Fund V, sponsored by European real estate private equity ?rm Orion Capital Managers, lies in the center of Rome, blocks from the Fontana di Trevi and Pantheon. The luxury shopping streets of Via Condotti, Frattina and Borgognona are within walking distance. This is the first Six Senses property to open in Italy. Highlights include 95 guest rooms and suites, a spa, restaurant, events terrace, outdoor courtyard garden and rooftop terrace with a 360-degree view of the city and monuments.
