Spanish hotels look to sell up or buy rivals

Blighted by empty beds during the pandemic, Spanish hotels may now find their best way out of the crisis is to sell up or buy rivals, industry officials said. “There are going to be opportunities to sell and the hotel chains are going to be very attentive to that,” said Javier Jimenez, head of Spain’s Association of Hotel Directors in the Costa Blanca region, which includes the resort towns of Benidorm, Denia and Torrevieja.

Design Hotels’ virtual retreat

Berlin-based Design Hotels is launching its “Virtual Retreat,” hosted in collaboration with Unsettled, a curator of international co-working retreats and virtual community experiences. The retreat combines personal development workshops and one-on-one sessions with virtual networking events for travel advisors and Design member properties. In addition, each themed week of the month-long retreat will consist of an experience, hotel panel discussions, individual coursework, one-on-one sessions and access to the 24/7 community platform.
