South Africa’s Sun International to cut 3,300 jobs

Johannesburg-based hotel company Sun International plans to cut 3,300 jobs in South Africa and Chile as part of a restructuring plan to survive the pandemic, which took the firm into a half-year loss of 885 million rand (US$53.26 million). Properties of the casino and hotel company were forced to close for over three months in South Africa, while in rest of Africa and Latin America, its operations still remain closed.

Croatians to sue Austria for infections at ski resort

A lawyer representing people who became infected with COVID-19 at the popular Ischgl ski resort in Austria said that thousands of people, among them nine Croats, are ready to file a lawsuit against Austria. The lawyer said that people from 45 countries have said that they are ready to sue Austria because they believe that its authorities failed to take the necessary precautions and allowed the facilities to remain open after it was clear that there was an outbreak.
