Briefs: Kempinski in Switzerland | Radisson Red Newcastle

Kempinski managing 5-star: Kempinski Hotels will manage the first 5-star luxury hotel in Engelberg, Switzerland, the Kempinski Palace Engelberg – Titlis Swiss Alps, which is nearing completion and is set to open in spring 2021. The company will also manage two Geneva-based hotels on Frutt in Melchsee-Frutt.

Radisson Red Newcastle: Radisson Hotel Group has signed a Radisson Red Newcastle in the UK. Set to open in 2023, the hotel will be located in the city center within The High Street Group’s £120 million (US$158 million) Strawberry Place development, One St James’. The 200-room hotel will have a sky bar, al fresco space on the roof, conference and banqueting facilities, and a restaurant.

Far East’s expansion plans: Singapore-based Far East Hospitality has added three properties to its portfolio with the 191-room Oasia Resort Sentosa in Singapore, marking the company’s first foray into the resort and spa category: the 277-room Far East Village Hotel Yokohama in Japan, and the Quincy Hotel Melbourne, which opens in the first quarter of 2021.

Donohoe adds three: Bethesda, Maryland-based Donohoe Hospitality Services, a division of Donohoe, has added three hotels to its portfolio, including the newly built 156-room Canopy Baltimore Harbor Point in Maryland, the 214-room Hyatt Place Washington, D.C., National Mall, and the 135-room Homewood Suites by Hilton in Reston, Virginia. Since the beginning of 2020 Donohoe Hospitality has increased its portfolio by 44% and added an additional 800 guest rooms, including the newly built dual branded Hampton Inn & Suites/Home2 Suites by Hilton Las Vegas.
