Drive-in cake

Vienna’s iconic Hotel Sacher is determined to keep selling its famous chocolate cake, even as the pandemic has crippled its occupancy. The hotel’s concierge, Uwe Kotzendorfer, is selling the hotel’s famous Sacher torte for €50 to €60 (US$60 to US$71) on a drive-in stand just across the road from Vienna’s prestigious State Opera house. The vast majority of the Sacher’s staff are now on government-subsidized furlough and the majority of rooms and dining halls in the six neoclassical buildings are deserted.
