Dorchester CEO maintains company culture, optimism

Christopher Cowdray was the only person working in the Dorchester Collection’s London headquarters office last month during the latest COVID-19 spike. While he misses his team in person, his productivity hasn’t suffered a bit.

“I don’t live too far away and I like to have the space,” the CEO said. “I enjoy the quiet, but I also enjoy being back in the office because it really gives me great focus.”

Cowdray, who has been running the nine-hotel portfolio since its founding in 2006, has been spending much of that productive time connecting with his core executive team and his employees. The collection’s approach with guests has maintained a light, reassuring touch.

“We didn’t go out offering discounts and huge promotions. We just went out and said, ‘When you’re ready, we’ll be waiting,’” Cowdray said in our latest HOTELSLife interview.

Find out what he’s doing to come back stronger than before the global pandemic hit, and stay tuned tomorrow for part two of the interview.
