United Kingdom
Occupancy: 40.5% (-47.7%)
ADR: £72.08 (US$99) (-23.9%)
RevPAR: £29.17 (US$40) (-60.2%)
The absolute occupancy and RevPAR levels were the lowest for any year on record in STR’s U.K. database. Amid continued COVID-19 lockdowns around the country, December performance was down from the prior month, and the country’s 26.1% occupancy level was its lowest since May.
Netherlands
Occupancy: 30.0% (-60.3%)
ADR: €93.06 (US$113) (-24.1%)
RevPAR: €27.96 (US$34) (-69.8%)
Each of the three key performance metrics were the lowest for any year on record in the Netherlands. Occupancy in the country fell to a low point in April (8.5%) but improved to as high as 44.2% in August thanks to domestic demand during the summer holidays. However, reflecting the impact of a new lockdown, December occupancy (14.2%) was the lowest for the country since May.
Middle East and Africa also see all-time lows
Hotels in both the Middle East and Africa reported all-time lows in occupancy and RevPAR, according to year-end 2020 data from STR.

While total-year occupancy and RevPAR levels fell to all-time lows, both regions ended the year on a high note, with December monthly data reaching closer to pre-pandemic levels in each of the three key performance metrics.
Qatar
Occupancy: 56.6% (-14.8%)
ADR: QAR356.13 (US$97) (-4.4%)
RevPAR: QAR201.50 (US$55) (-18.5%)
Each of the three key performance metrics were the lowest for any year in STR’s Qatar database. However, the country’s occupancy level remained high compared with others around the world. In August and September, Qatar accomplished the rare feat of year-over-year growth in ADR (+0.1%).
United Arab Emirates
Occupancy: 51.7% (-29.3%)
ADR: AED418.83 (US$114) (-16.5%)
RevPAR: AED216.45 (US$59) (-41.0%)
Each of the three key performance metrics were the lowest for any year in STR’s UAE database, but performance toward the end of the year pulled closer to pre-pandemic levels. December occupancy (67.4%) and RevPAR (AED371.24) (US$101) were the highest in the country since February.
Asia Pacific performance hurting as well
Hotels in the Asia Pacific region saw record-low performance during 2020, according to data from STR.

Australia
Occupancy: 44.7% (-39.4%)
ADR: AUD163.90 (US$126) (-11.5%)
RevPAR: AUD73.32 (US$57) (-46.4%)
The 2020 occupancy and RevPAR levels were the lowest for any year on record in Australia. However, after falling to its pandemic low point in April (occupancy: 19.8%), Australia reported continued performance improvement through the end of the year. In December, each of the three key performance metrics were the highest for the country since February: occupancy (52.8%), ADR (AUD189.50) (US$146) and RevPAR (AUD99.98) (US$77).
Philippines
Occupancy: 42.6% (-37.6%)
ADR: PHP3,689.33 (US$77) (-32.0%)
RevPAR: PHP1,572.32 (US$33) (-57.6%)
The absolute occupancy and RevPAR levels were the lowest for any year in STR’s Philippines database, while ADR was the lowest since 2004. June was the country’s worst month in terms of occupancy (27.0%).
Central/South America also struggling
The Central/South America hotel industry reported record lows in occupancy and RevPAR, according to year-end 2020 data from STR.

The occupancy and RevPAR levels were the lowest for any year on record in STR’s Colombia database. April was the country’s low point for occupancy (6%), but steady improvement returned the country to 30.9% in December.
Ecuador
Occupancy: 26.3% (-56.0%)
ADR: US$76.29 (-17.8%)
RevPAR: US$20.09 (-63.9%)
The absolute occupancy and RevPAR levels were the lowest on record in Ecuador. June was the country’s lowest occupancy (8.3%) month, but levels returned to 30% by December.
