HOTELS launches opportunities conference

The hallways and private meeting rooms at hotel investment conferences are often the places where deals get done, but it has been more than a year since the industry has gathered face-to-face to let those deals happen. Now, HOTELS is taking the lead to bring the industry back together with an outdoor event on March 31 at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami.

The one-day HOTELS Opportunities Conference focused on sourcing debt, equity and acquisitions will bring together hundreds of leaders in the hotel investment world to talk about the state of the hotel business in a COVID-informed world; explore workout options for distressed properties; look at new financing opportunities, including institutional lending and debt funds; equity market fundraising; and how to acquire properties via auctions, foreclosures and note sales.

This timely event for dealmakers who have been waiting for such an event will provide the opportunity to gather and reconnect in the outdoor lawn area of the Mandarin, where socially distant protocol will be observed. “Perfect timing to source new opportunities,” said Grant King, CEO of the Dream Hotel in Hollywood, California. “I look forward to joining this important event.”

Added Sheila Farahpour, vice president of global development for Marriott International’s Edition and W brands, “I look forward to supporting HOTELS Opportunities Conference. Their team has proven to maintain its relevancy over many years and more recently during COVID-19.”

The day-long event will start at 8:30 a.m. and run through a VIP mixer until 6:30 p.m. Among the other speakers are Leland Pillsbury, managing director, Thayer Ventures, and chairman, TLG Investment Partners; Richard Millard of Highgate, and Steve Rattner, former CEO of DLJ and former chairman of the Hard Rock Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
