EU jobseekers interest in UK declines: EU jobseekers’ interest in the UK job market has waned since the new Brexit immigration rules were implemented, according to a study by jobs website Indeed. The study said there has been a 36% drop in job searches from EU since 2019, with lower paid roles in social care, food and hospitality seeing a 41% drop in interest. Although the COVID-19 pandemic played a significant role in declining job searches, it isn’t the only factor. During 2020, EU and non-EU searches fell by 14% and 7% respectively, but since Brexit rules were implemented, the two search trends have diverged, with searches from outside the EU almost returning to 2019 levels.
