Board games, baking and boating

Our daughter is now home for an extended leave from Virginia Tech, as the rest of the semester will be conducted online. With minimal use of the internet, she and her boyfriend decided to make cookies and play board games while they were baking in the oven. My wife took our old kayak out on the river for a 20-minute ride at sunset. They all encouraged me to start a puzzle I’ve wanted to start for years.

These activities cost next to nothing and allowed time to enjoy the present without distraction, without fear and without concern. According to an article I read recently, the reason most people are so concerned with our world’s recent news is because of their own fear of mortality.

We can’t let the inevitable ruin our individuality and the pursuit of our purpose. What are you doing to remain living in the moment?
