As cities ramp up their reopening, the hospitality industry has to consider an uneven economic recovery and an evolving COVID-19 situation as hoteliers try to anticipate consumer demand. In the absence of certainty, it’s critical that businesses use data to make planning decisions that are as empirical and real-time as possible. Yet the reality is there’s no one-size-fits-all plan -- for instance, a hotelier in Austin, Texas, which is well on its way to a 94% recovery, will have to plan differently than one based in San Francisco, which is 27% recovered.
