Interwest Capital Corp. announced on Thursday that it bought the historic 149-room Hampton Inn & Suites Birmingham-Downtown-Tutwiler, located in Birmingham, Alabama for an undisclosed sum.
Interwest Capital Corp., La Jolla, California, said that it has engaged HRI Lodging to managed the property and that it plans a US$2-million expansion of the event and banquet space to over 11,000 sq ft (1,020 sq m) and update of the guestrooms.
The hotel was originally constructed in 1913 as the Ridgely Apartments by the Jemison Co. and is a National Historic Landmark.
