Marriott requiring face covering in public spaces

Following American Hotel & Lodging Association’s “Safe Stay Guest Checklist” announcement last week, Marriott International said on Monday that it will require all guests to wear a face covering in its hotels’ public spaces effective July 27, no matter the jurisdiction.

In a video released on Monday, Marriott International CEO Arne Sorenson said that wearing face coverings is one of the easiest steps to protect one another and reduce the spread of COVID-19. To set an example, he said Marriott made it a brand standard that all associates wear masks.

Marriott will give pre-arrival reminders to its guests, place signage at its properties and train all staff. Sorneson said Marriott will review this policy on an ongoing basis and follow the advice of medical experts.
