People on the Move: Langham, Ritz-Carlton, Westin Singapore

Langham Hospitality Group has appointed Sherona Shng as managing director of The Langham, Hong Kong and regional vice president, operations – Asia, overseeing hotels from Hong Kong to Tokyo and Jakarta.

In addition to her leadership role at The Langham, Hong Kong, Shng will have expanded operational oversight of all Langham and Cordis properties in Hong Kong and Asia, including properties under development.

The role marks a significant homecoming as Shng served in her first operational role as hotel manager at The Langham, Hong Kong. Prior to her operational leadership roles, Shng was vice president – PR and communications leading Langham Hospitality Group’s global brand advertising, integrated marketing campaigns, corporate and brand public relations.

Speaking of her new mandate at The Langham, Hong Kong, Shng is passionate about delivering authentic luxury customer service experiences through empowered passionate teams. “I am delighted to return to The Langham, Hong Kong, which is where I first discovered my love for operational excellence and enabling our people to deliver Langham bespoke touches and memories that the guests remember,” she said.

Kevin Blake has been appointed director of food and beverage for Lansdowne Resort, Leesburg, Virginia. Blake joins Lansdowne after his tenure at Creighton Farms in Middleburg, Virginia.

LWHA Asset Management Group, New York, has appointed Hans Bruland as executive advisor. Prior to this role, Bruland led the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C., as vice president and general manager.

Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Resorts Collection, Litchfield, Connecticut, appointed Cortney Burns as inspiring chef. Burns spent many years working with prestigious names in San Francisco’s celebrated kitchens before becoming Nick Balla’s co-chef at Bar Tartine and eventually heading east to open Tourists, a hotel in North Adams, Massachusetts.

Fairmont Grand Del Mar, San Diego, named Brendan Carlin as general manager. Most recently, Carlin served as general manager for Cavallo Point Lodge in Sausalito, California.

East West Hospitality, Beaver Creek, Colorado, has hired Stacy Daeffler as associate director of sales at The Charter at Beaver Creek. Daeffler previously served as the manager of Destination Colorado Meetings.

The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, welcomed Katie Donald as director of sales and marketing. Donald joins from the St. Regis New York, where she held the position of director of sales and marketing.

Hotel Equities, Atlanta, appointed Amber Edwards as the new general manager of The Hamilton, a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel in Alpharetta, Georgia. Prior to joining HE, Edwards served as area general manager for Sage Hospitality Group, Denver, Colorado.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has appointed Denis Espina as the new resort manager of Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Mexico. Espina rejoins the resort after serving as resort manager at the new Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas, Mexico.

Rancho Pescadero , Baja California Sur, Mexico, has appointed Chef Sandro Falbo as culinary director. Most recently, he was executive chef at One&Only Palmilla in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The Orlando Bonnet Creek properties of Hilton Hotels announced the appointment of Ryan Fitzgerald as general manager for Waldorf Astoria Orlando, Florida. Most recently, Fitzgerald was the hotel manager of the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.

Carlos Carrion Garcia has been appointed as executive chef of Riviera Maya’s beachfront wellness retreat, Palmaïa – The House of AïA, Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Chef Garcia founded Charly’s Vegan Tacos, in Tulum, Mexico, and Wynwood, Miami, Florida.

Marriott International has names Brock Hochhalter as area general manager for the Dominican Republic and Haiti markets. Joining Marriott in 1996, he most recently served as vice president of operations for Caribbean and Latin America’s luxury portfolio.

The Holiday Inn Boston Bunker Hill, Somerville, Massachusetts, has hired Diana Jimenez as director of sales and catering. Jimenez transitions to the Boston area from Split Rock Resort located in Poconos, Pennsylvania, where she was director of sales.

Michelangelo L’Acqua Joins SH Hotels & Resorts as global expert in entertainment and music. Most recently, L’Acqua crafted the sonic identity of Richard Branson’s cruise line Virgin Voyages, Florida.

Country house hotel Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa in rural Wiltshire, England, appointed Philip Lewis as executive chef. Most recently, Lewis was executive head chef for On-Air dining in London.

The Westin Singapore welcomed Jenny Lim as director of sales and marketing and Daniel Quek as the new director of food and beverage. Prior to joining The Westin Singapore, Lim was the director of sales and marketing at PARKROYAL on Beach Road, Singapore, while Quek was the director of food and beverage at the Fairmont Singapore & Swissôtel The Stamford, also in Singapore.

The Pierre New York, A Taj Hotel, announced the return of Chef Michael Mignano as executive banquet chef. Most recently, Chef Mignano partnered to launch Farine Baking Company in New York.

Dorchester Collection, London, England, promoted Philip Morris from global commercial director to vice president, commercial.

The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort in Doha, Qatar, appointed Ali Moussa as director of sales and marketing. Prior to his appointment by the property, Moussa was director of sales at Dream Doha, Qatar.

Meyer Jabara Hotels, Danbury, Connecticut, announced Heidi Nielsen as vice president of investments and asset management. For the last 15 years, Nielsen has served as managing director for a global consulting firm.

Siyam World, Maldives, welcomed Florian Niessing as director of food and beverage and Maya Damayanti as Veyo spa manager. Niessing was previously director of food and beverage at The Wellem, Germany. Damayanti brings over 15 years of experience developing spa brands and training staff at global luxury hotel and resort groups across Bali, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, and the Middle East.

Suncadia Resort has named Jeff Ouradnik as the new director of sales & marketing for the Cle Elum, Washington resort. Previously, he was the director of sales and marketing at Margaritaville Resort, a Davidson Hospitality property in Palm Springs, California.

The dual-branded Aloft and Element Hotel in Midtown Tampa, Florida, announced the appointment of Johnathan Rodriguez as its new executive chef and food & beverage director. Most recently he was executive chef at Sea Salt in St. Pete, also in Florida.

The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park, El Paso, Texas, appointed Jacqueline Rojo as its new pastry chef. Most recently, Rojo worked with the El Paso Country Club where she oversaw the baking and pastry department.

Sheraton Phoenix Downtown has welcomed Richard Romane as general manager. Prior, Romane was the director of sales & marketing and resort manager of JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, as well as the general manager of The Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago.

New Orlean’s Windsor Court, Louisiana, has promoted Brennan Rosonet to spa director. Most recently, Rosonet was the spa manager at Windsor Court.

The Wall Street Hotel, New York City, appointed David Sandler as general manager. Prior to joining the hotel, Sandler served as regional general manager at the Denihan Hospitality Group, New York City.

AutoCamp, San Francisco, announced the appointment of five new C-Suites/executives. Julie Saunders is the new chief marketing officer; Sean Doyle is the new chief development officer; Jess Wilner is senior vice president of finance and accounting; Stephen Kallaher is senior vice president of acquisitions and development; and Pat McCudden is the senior vice president of business development. Prior to AutoCamp, Saunders served as head of brand for Ace Hotel Group (New York City), Doyle was senior vice president for Sydell Group (New York City), Kallaher was senior vice president of development and asset management for Carlisle LLC (Memphis, Tennessee), and McCudden spent the last 13 years at Hyatt as senior vice president of corporate development and transactions.

The Wharf, Washington DC, has appointed Claire Swift as restaurant general manager and Keven Weathers II as sous chef. Swift was general manager of Thank You Have a Nice Day, while Weathers served as the morning sous chef for Yellow at Navy Yard (Washington DC).

Rosewood Baha Mar, Nassau, The Bahamas, has chosen Joaquín Torres as head sommelier of the resort’s four signature dining destinations – Café Boulud The Bahamas, Costa, Manor Bar and The Library – and Jaime Ortiz as food and beverage manager of Costa. Torres has been a member of the Rosewood family since 2011, while Ortiz most recently served as food & beverage outlet manager at Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraíso, San José del Cabo, Mexico.
