Briefs: Wyndham murmurs | Trump D.C. investigation?

Wyndham rumor: Wyndham Worldwide Corp. may receive bids of more than US$1 billion from buyout firms for its European vacation rentals business, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing people familiar with the situation. Blackstone Group is reportedly among those considering a bid.

 


Trump investigation: The Washingtonian is reporting that the federal investigation into the Russian government’s interference in the 2016 presidential election could next focus on the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., as the investigators recently issued a subpoena to Deutsche Bank, asking for records on its work with President Trump‘s family-owned company, The Trump Organization. The Trump company reportedly owed Deutsche Bank about US$300 million at the time Trump became president, a sum that included a US$170 million construction loan to finance the conversion of the Old Post Office into a luxury hotel.

Rosewood meets Germany: Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been appointed by German real estate company Bayerische Hausbau to manage Rosewood Munich, which will open in early 2023 as the brand’s first property in Germany and seventh property in Europe. The 132-room hotel will be housed in two landmark historical buildings comprised of the former headquarters of the State Bank of Bavaria (19th century) and the adjacent Palais Neuhaus-Preysing, a former grand aristocratic residence (early 18th century).

  


Capella to Bangkok: Singapore’s Capella Hotel Group and Thai-based real estate developer Country Group Development have announced they will open the all-suite 101-room Capella Bangkok in the last quarter of 2018. The project is part of the new Chao Phraya Estate development. Michelin-starred Argentinian Chef Mauro Colagreco will conceptualize the restaurant.

 


Expedia news: Amadeus agents worldwide will be able to book Expedia Affiliate Network’s rates and availabilities at more than 350,000 hotels worldwide through Amadeus, including full-service hotel brands, boutique hotels, and serviced apartments. Travel sellers who take advantage of EAN’s competitive rates and availabilities through Amadeus Hotels will also benefit from a fully automated process, saving them time and money: from searching, to booking and to invoicing, the information is automatically transferred.

 


Service for Osaka: Tokyo-based commercial real estate developer Pacifica Capital has selected Oakwood to operate its hotel and serviced apartment project under development in Osaka, which is scheduled to open in summer 2018 with 185 rooms.
