What’s Hot: Belmond unveils new restaurant in Venice

Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice has opened a new restaurant called Oro.

Interior designer Adam Tihany created the space; the main dining room has a domed ceiling decorated with gold leaf and a Murano glass chandelier. The décor includes Seguso chandeliers, chairs upholstered with Rubelli fabric, Luciano Vistosi’s emerald green sculptures and blown glass candelabras by Venini. Oro also features bronze sculptures by Paulin Paris and a painting by Julio Larraz. The terrace, on Rio San Giorgio, has wrought iron chairs and stone tables.

Executive Chef Davide Bisetto’s menu uses Italian ingredients to create dishes such as red prawn and spider crab au naturel with pink grapefruit aspic, citrus, Sant’Erasmus cucumber sorbet, and Bloody Mary water, or sea bass with Marostica extra virgin olive oil and lagoon vegetables.

Belmond Hotel Cipriani also recently debuted Enoteca, La Via Della Sete, a rustic bar with an open kitchen and a wine collection of more than a thousand labels. The central bar counter is decorated with mosaics; Enoteca is connected to the Oro dining room.

Orient-Express Hotels started operating all of its hotels under the Belmond brand effective March 10.
