What’s Hot: The Redbury’s transformation in NYC

The former Martha Washington Hotel was recently transformed to Sbe’s The Redbury New York. Following successful openings in Hollywood, California, and South Beach, Florida, the Manhattan debut marks the third and latest property from The Redbury brand, in collaboration with flagship creative director and photographer Matthew Rolston.

The property originally opened in 1903 and was the first hotel in New York to provide housing for professional women. The original building was designed by Robert Gibson in renaissance revival style with brick and limestone, Palladian windows, splayed lintels with keystones and balconettes with iron railings.

The Rebury offers 265 renovated guestrooms. Rolston worked with Dakota Development and Avenue Interiors to incorporate funky patterns, motifs and visual accents throughout the property. Hues of red and green are woven throughout the property with paisley prints, oriental rugs, balanced with the charm of antique light fixtures and reclaimed furnishings. Curated vintage art selections by Rolston that reflect the Rock ‘N Roll age of New York City are displayed throughout the public spaces and guestrooms.

On-site food and beverage options include Marta, a Roman-inspired pizzeria, and Bar Marta, serving cocktails, craft beers, a variety of wine and champagne.
